cat's back + i'm leaving

Tue Jul 7, 2009, 10:13 AM
we got our cat back yesterday.
apparently he crossed a street and somehow ended up in someone's closed backyard.
we have no idea how he got there, but the people who cared for him contacted the website where we'd posted the 'missing ad' for the cat. the people from the website called us and showed us the picture the owners had taken and it was definitely him.

they say he used to hang out in their neighbours' backyard first, but as the people next door had cats, he probably thought it a better place to find food. so he stuck around there, drinking a lot, getting bullied by the other cats, but he's okay.

we went over there yesterday evening, and he came to us immediately. he was still the same, only thinner, and needed his meds badly. but he's fine now. a bit dazed, and he wants to go out constantly, but he can't. whining all the time, not liking his food. he hasn't changed much. but we missed him a lot and we're glad he's okay and back with us.

as for the leaving part, at the very last moment, the people from intersoc, the organisation i've worked for over the last summers, called me to say they did have an opening for me. it's in a place in switserland called zinal, where i've never been before.
to judge from the pictures and descriptions on the site, it's a lot quieter than st-moritz and i'll sure be bored to hell, but it's a change and it's a great earner for money.

the downside is i have to stay there for one month straight, and i hate leaving my boyfriend behind. i wish he could come with me. it'd be so fun, the allround waiting couple :D. but i'll call him a lot. and hopefully internet will work there too, so i'll mail him loads too. i hate being away for so long without my stuff as well

I'm a young woman living in Hoboken, Antwerp (Belgium for those not quite familiar with maps, chocolate or fries). i study for translator english-italian and i live at home with my parents.

i like history, books, tv-shows, sarcasm, lolcats and am i major Josh Groban fan.

also, i'm a keen drawer. unfortunately i do not possess the ability to draw what i think of. i pretty much need something to copy from. you can call me a copycat, but i'm a damn good one. and after all, some artists use models to sit for them, why shouldn't i draw something from a picture?

i do have some restrictions. i never went to an art school so i don't know a thing about dimensions or shadowing. and for some reason i'm not good at drawing humans, especially from pictures. i much rather have them created by some computer design.
i've also had a thing for vector art, because i like the way you can make a shape, with just a few lines.

i also use a black marker to fill up drawings, as i'm totally not acquinted with anything digital to use it for. it's a pity, cause black marker does leave the traces of how you spin it, but it's what i do and i'm happy enough with it.

i don't think i'll ever be as perfect as some but i do try, and anyway, it's just a hobby, but something i really love to do.

a bit more peculiar news then (it doesn't mean i'm crazy or anything, it's just a 'christel thing';): i have a drawing of an elf, which is my ultimate best drawing i've ever made. i've given her a name, she's called 'Tess', and she's so beautiful, i have to look at her at least once a day. i'm just very proud of what i've achieved there :)

and incidentally, if you're here, and you like my drawings, i'd love to have some comments on them. everyone likes comments, and most of all compliments, though the last one's not obligatory ;)
